Mark A. Vargas is Director of Grants and Research at America’s Packard Museum. He wrote numerous successful grants, including for the Dayton Foundation, Ddora Foundation, Foundation for the Advancement in Conservation, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Historical Publications and Records Commission, State Library of Ohio, Ohio History Fund, and others for conservation, internships, digitization, educational support, scanning equipment, and general support. Mark has a 35-year career in museums and libraries. He was Chief Operating Officer at the Revs Institute in Naples, and directed the libraries at St. Cloud State University, Saint Xavier University, and the University of Arts and Sciences of Oklahoma. Before that, Mark was an archivist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mark received an M.A. in History and M.L.S. in Library Science from the University of Maryland. Mark has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles, and made numerous presentations to professional groups, including the World Forum for Motor Museums and National Association of Automobile Museums. He also served on many local, regional, national, and international boards and committees. Mark is an expert on libraries and archives information network systems, and digitization projects and protocols. He led the initiative to have members of the Society of Automotive Historians be able to borrow from the Turnquist Library at America’s Packard Museum.
